Nathalie Beauvillain ScottAbout the Artist:

I was born in Fontainebleau, a little town near Paris, in 1971. As a child I always had an interest in drawing and at secondary school I did a specialised course in Art and History of Art.

In 1989 I passed my Baccalauréat and later that year became involved with a group of artists based in Weybridge. We were then creating “Deltaic Murals” based on the shape of the delta — a movement called “Deltaism.” I went on to complete my Foundation Year in Paris followed by two years at Olivier de Serres, specialising in Fine Art.

I returned to England in 1994 where I worked as a Mural Artist, getting commissions all round Surrey from schools, bars, hospitals and houses. For the last few years I have had a growing interest in the human figure, especially portraits.

2004 BP Portrait Award

In 2004, I took part in the BP Portrait Award competition linked with the National Portrait Gallery, London. The Portrait Award is an annual event aimed at encouraging young artists from around the world, to focus upon and develop the theme of portraiture. Many of the exhibiting artists have gained commissions as a result. The competition is judged from original paintings in oil, tempera or acrylic, which have been painted from the life with the human figure predominantly.

Portrait of Theo PathitisIn 2004 the judges selected fifty-four portraits out of a record number of 955 entries. A portrait of my son, Olivier, was selected and exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery, Royal Albert Memorial Museum (Exeter), Royal West of England Academy (Bristol), Aberystwyth Arts Center (Wales).

2010 BP Portrait Award
